Over the last few months, I've been mulling over what app I'd like to build as my first indie product. In parallel, I've been devouring blog posts, conference talks, podcasts, etc. that provide advice about building successful products and businesses.
I saw Dave Addey present an excellent live version of his Typeset In The Future sci-fi/fonts project at Çingleton in October. Unfortunately the video of that talk isn't available yet, but today I found and watched another great talk he'd given at Handheld 2012, So You Have An App Idea?
I wasn't sure whether the content would feel dated, since it's a few years old — the iOS 6 screenshots in his slides sure feel old now. But I was pleasantly surprised that his advice still rings true today. And it has provided inspiration for diving back into my app/business design work today.
